অনেকগুলো গির্জার ঘন্টাধ্বনী এক সঙ্গে বেজে উঠায় এক বিচিত্র ঐকতানের সৃষ্টি হলো।
সম্রাটের প্রাসাদে প্রবেশের সময় সশস্ত্র অশ্বারোহী ‘সারাকলো সারাকলো’ বলে চেঁচিয়ে উঠে আমাদের দিকে তেড়ে এল।
রোমানদের কাছে ‘সারাকলো’ অর্থ মোসলমান।আমি ও আমার কয়েকজন সাথীর গায়ের পোশাক দেখে ওরা বুঝতে পারছিল আমরা মুসলমান।তাই অশ্বারোহী দলটি প্রাসাদে প্রবেশে আমাদের বাঁধা দিল।
খাতুনের একজন কর্মচারী তাদেরকে জানাল য়ে,আমরা খাতুনের মেহমান।
কিন্তু ওরা আমাদের যেতে দিতে রাজী হলো না।
বলল রাজকীয় অনুমতি লাগবে।
অগত্যা আমরা ক’জন মুসলমান একপাশে অপেক্ষা করতে লাগলাম।
ইতিমধ্যেই খাতুন তাঁর পিতা-মাতার সঙ্গে প্রাসাদের ভিতরে চলে গেছেন।
খাতুনের এক খাস খাদেম আমাদের এই দুরবস্থার কথা খাতুনকে গিয়ে জানাল।
খাতুন তারাতারি সম্রাটকে বলে আমাদের প্রবেশের অনুমতি পত্র পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।
খাতুন যে প্রাসাদে অবস্থান করছেন তার নিকটবর্তী একটি বাড়ীতে সম্রাট আমাদের থাকা খাওয়ার বন্দোবস্ত করার নির্দেশ দিলেন।
শুধু তাই নয়,তিনি ফরমানে এই হুকুমত জারি কররেন যে, আমরা রাজকীয় মেহমান এবং শহরের যেখানে খুশী যাতায়াত করতে পারব এবং এই ব্যাপারে আমাদেরকে যথাযথ নিরাপত্তা প্রদানেরও হুকুম দিলেন।
